Hi Everyone, I wanted to bring my orignial posting back to the top of the discussion board, incase there are any visa overstayers needing some help and encouragement, today I received my GREENCARD in the mail a 10 year one YEAH!!!!, (I expect, much to the horror of S12) LOL!!!
Below I have included my Timeline, the only advise I can give,:
1. We did not use a Lawyer, we read the instructions that come with the application forms, if you feel comfortable filling out the forms yourself and have no criminal background or skeletons in the closet save your $$$$.
2. Patience, once you are in the throws of the process, I couldn't beleive how many times a day I checked the online status, it changed only twice, that was to let me know my EAD card had been ordered, and that my Welcome letter had been mailed.
3. If your marriage is true, and you love one another, you have no worries at the interview.
4. If you have any questions, go to a discussion forum, most of the time the people are really nice, and will answer you.

Jake01 - I'm sure there are many who appreciate you sharing your timeline. I think yours is very short compared to others I have seen. Glad it went pretty smoothly for you! Again, congratulations!!!!!
Thanks ProudUSC, I can't beleive how quickly it went either, infact I got a little concerned, thought Oh No!! they are going to deport me. LOL!! Anyway, thank goodness it's all over for a while, next is Citizenship, but a few years away from that yet. at least I can live a legal life for now, instead of being couped up in the house, DMV here I come! then job hunting!!! I feel my life is just beginning again, after having it on hold for the past 3 years.
Make sure you get a lawyer. Try a catholic center they normally can help with this. You'll probably be OK but make sure you don't leave the country until your sorted out your 1-485. They will over look your overstay if that's all. And dont listen to the ****s Someone12 or Sun devil.

Hi Traveler, if you look at the top of page 3 you will see I already have my Greencard, but thanks for the advise.
I only bought this thread back to the top so I could show my timeline, to help others in the same situation as I was in.

I'm not sure if your situation is any Different but my husband came here on a Vistors Visa.......his Visa was only for 1 month because he was coming to a wedding and decided to stay well any way we met about 2 years after that.......got married 2 years ago and we went to a lawyer and filed and he just got through....as long as your wife is a US Citizen you would not have a problem.....unless your going through deportation proceedings or you been in trouble with the law.........
u know sonofmickael,,somebody should beat u up so u will stop accusing ppl,,lol

Although you over stay here and if you already filed your case and recive letter from INS you are fine and don't need to worry about over stay, just wait for interview date and you might call INS and inquary about your status.
To SOM and S12 and whoever thinks like these people.
I dont care what you think, and I certainly don't need your approval, especially by the likes of you SOM, who bring over Russian Brides, whom you have met over the internet, now how many times have you been scammed? Why do you think these mail order brides are advertising? maybe because they are looking for a better life in America?
I dont doubt America is a great place, but if my husband did not have any obligations to stay here, we WOULD be in England. In fact that is what I told the Immigration officer when we went for our interview.
People like you dont seem to understand, I do have a life in my own country, I miss my family and friends very much, although US and UK speak the same language, it is very different over here, and it has been extemely difficult to adjust to life here, but I do so, because I love my husband. and IF for any reason, our marriage does not work out, I would be on a plane out of here, back to the UK as quick as lightning.
So NO! I am not a scammer or a fraud, Im here to be with the person I love, it is just a shame there is a bloody great pond between our countries.

Well, if anyone needs to know why illegal immigration is a far more desirable option than legal immigration, then Jake's story highlights it perfectly.
Going the illegal route, she's lived for three years in the US and gets her GC 3-4 months after applying - all without having to be apart from her beloved hubby for any of that time.
Going the legal route, my USC hubby (9 years married) has been in the US for 11 months while I've remained in my home country. Our application was filed soon after his arrival and we're still at the NVC stage. By the time it's done, I won't have seen him for well over a year and God knows how many months.
Jake, if we could go back in time and do it again, we would've done it the same way you did. The illegal route is much faster and it doesn't force families in to painful and lengthy separations.
