I agree. And the more one consumes, the less discriminating the taste!

At a bar in Manhatten - yes...

Actually, I know quite a few great bars there that just cry out for beers like that! There is a great Irish bar on 3rd Ave - O'Neils... Good Beer, Excellent Food, beautiful bar-staff that talk with strong Irish accents... Hmmmm - A Killian's sounds good about now...

I can speak any accent you want.

I like to sing with an Irish brogue.

Especially this song:

Diamonds and Rust - Joan Baez

Not much s e x i e r out there than a lass with a thick Irish accent. But accents only really work well when you are talking and enjoying some engaging eye contact. Of course, being easy on the eyes helps as well...

I enjoy a night out at that bar now and then that is for sure. At least when the birds flirt with you there it is genuine - not like at places such as *******...

I am not familiar with that particular Joan Baez song - anything particularly special about it?

It is the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard.

DIAMONDS AND RUST
(Words and Music by Joan Baez)

Well I'll be d a m n e d
Here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust

Well you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes the girl on the half-shell
Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there

Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

Rumor has it she was singing about Bob Dylan.

I'm always flirting... Just ask anyone who knows me... But alas - you are unavailable...

Why, are you firting?

I avoid Kazaa as it can turn your PC into a FTP server if you are not careful about it - but perhaps I'll just buy the CD and add it to the ol' collection...

Hi everybody... Smile

I think all I 751 ers read this thread so I m not making any new thread and probably I have asked this question before so put up with me... aguila, sphyrapicus, ARQU, JD, Patti, Injoy, Wish and others ... it has been more than 6 months from the date on my NOA... I know its insane to make an inquiry as they say in NOA but in past I read on other newsgroup that making a phone call could bring your file to their attention ... that's what I read in past on BE and from the experiences on Kamya ... if I am called for interview, doesn't matter to me ... I m living with the USC spouse, still married and (for Michael Smile so he doesn't have to jump in here for making a comment – I am not planning to divorce in near future anytime Wink...so hang in there...I will invite you in my divorce party once I get approved Wink Big Grin...). Do you guys think I should make a call ? thanks ... Pasha Smile

Pasha,

Six months is nothing. Wait until at least 30 days past the processing date before making an inquiry (at least 12 months). All that you will do is slow the process down for everyone else that is waiting for a decision by making a superfluous inquiry.

I'm not sure where you heard this rumor about your file being moved forward because you made a phone call to USCIS. I haven't heard of this, nor do I think anyone should leap frog the line. Just be patient like the rest of us and your time will come. Good luck.

That's why you use kaZaA LITE.

No spyware, and you don't have to upload to download.

Remember those Canadian jeans of the late 70's with the wide legs and the star on the back pocket?

I had a pair.

Hey Pasha... Keep on hanging in there! You haven't moved or anything so I wouldn't be too worried at this point.

Yes, inquiries seem to have made a difference in the past with a few folks (coincidence, perhaps?) but that is more likely true when the processing dates/timelines are long past due and the 'file' is indeed sitting on someone's desk somewhere under a pile...

Besides, if you leave that lovely wife of yours, you are completley insane my friend... I would say to hang tight and see what happens... How much longer on your I-551?

Jo:

Let's see... In the 70's I was wearing blue jeans (yes, the legs were a bit wider at the bottom), a t-shirt, a lumber-jack jacket (think 'Red Green' show - but green and black (that was cool) not red and black (very un-cool)). Footware was, of course, plain Nike runners (aka 'sneakers'). That was the gear worn almost everyday of the year. True, although when it dropped below -20 degrees, we would put on a jean jacket as well... My hair was long then, well not as long as it is now (right Pasha?), but long still the same...

I listened to the same music then as I do today. Admittedly that did not include Joan Baez...

But I never wore jeans with a star on the back pocket... Maybe a horse head on occasion(wasn't that the Jordache(sp?) logo) but not a star...

Sphyrapicus:

Just popped in to breeze through the NG and noticed your thread. Great news! Congradulations. I guess a staccato drum roll might be in order Smile

ARQU,

You didn't wear Kodiaks and have the Adidas gym bag? Lee jeans were the only cool jean to wear back then. What about the Levis cords? They were hip too.

Thanks Swissnut for the drum roll.

No kodiaks... Just runners with holes... Yes, I have had an Addidas bag or two...

Can't remember which jeans - might have been Levis... But whatever... The cut was different then that is for sure...

Cords - not since I was about 10... They were around but... (They make too much noise when you walk anyway!

Jo: It's possible...

That would of been my 'Senior' year... I had a car and spent a lot of my time dating instead of studying...

Actually I would skip out of school and drive to other high schools that were around, pick up some friends along the way and go 'hang out'... Lots of Zepplin and the like... Very little Ann Murray!

I haven't changed much since those days either. I dress a bit better but am still acting like a teenager as my son reminds me now and then; however, I point out that he has all my Zepplin, Floyd, Maiden, Sabbath, and other such CD's... (yes, they used to be LP's but I replaced them with CD's years ago)

Come to think of it, not much has changed at all. I have 2 tickets to Metallica at the Meadowlands in a couple of weeks. Should be fun - maybe I'll learn a couple of new guitar riffs or something. I'll just need to keep my son out of the 'clouds of smoke'!

And I still love the cold / nothing like -30 or -40 to wake you up in the morning...

We used to go up to Ottawa for concerts. My foster sister was mad at me for taking something with me.

I hate the cold!
