As I understand it, they want to see his long form birth certificate. It seems the long form one isn't available but he has shown what is available. Also the local paper at the time had a congratulations publication for his birth. Why would anybody do that to cover up the so-called non-US birth unless they miraculously knew years later he would become President and his US birth would be in question?? Hint: this happens all the time and it's not unusual for family to announce a new birth in the local papers! It's quite ordinary in fact.

Back then, there were ways for people to register births in Hawaii without it originating from a hospital. Plus the fact his grand mother says he was born elsewhere. Curious about that address given in the announcement. If there were a way to fully explore that it might lend some credibility one way or the other.

Not meaning to add fuel to the fire because frankly, I wish they'd quit the birth certificate thing once and for all too - I think they picked the wrong horse there.
But, Brit, while it's common practice for birth notices to be put in the paper, it's also not necessary for the family to be resident in the city, state or country for the notice to be accepted. Maybe it's not so common now, but before email and social networking sites, people would still publish birth and death notices in their home town even if they no longer lived there, as a way to keep their old friends and family apprised. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the fact there was a notice in the paper means squat.

Judge dismisses suit about Obama's eligibility to be president
(CNN) - President Barack Obama may have one less problem to worry about.
A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit that claimed Obama is ineligible to be president because he isn't a bona fide U.S. citizen.
The lawsuit represented the claim by the so-called "birthers" movement that Obama was not born in Hawaii - despite a birth certificate to the contrary - or that if he was, his citizenship was invalidated by living overseas as a child.
In a 30-page ruling, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter of California said his court lacked the jurisdiction to rule on a case intended to unseat a sitting president.
Carter's ruling said the plaintiffs were trying to persuade him to "disregard the constitutional procedures in place for the removal of a sitting president."
"The process for removal of a sitting president - removal for any reason - is within the province of Congress, not the courts," the ruling said.
Carter's ruling also noted that the plaintiffs "have attacked the judiciary, including every prior court that has dismissed their claim, as unpatriotic and even treasonous for refusing to grant their requests and for adhering to the terms of the Constitution."
"Respecting the constitutional role and jurisdiction of this court is not unpatriotic," the ruling said. "Quite the contrary, this court considers commitment to that constitutional role to be the ultimate reflection of patriotism."

This just means the judge can't do a thing about it, it's up to congress. Congress being a majority democrat, by blind choice, will not exercise any discretion in the matter.

Maybe because there is some truth to it. Has there ever been a situation like this? One in which there has been such an outcry over something so seemingly inconsequential? In any election the losing party has been prone to throw a few stones. But this, this has gone far beyond the usual momentum of mere sour grapes.
And why, if there is absolutely no truth to it, has the opposing camp refused to cooperate with full disclosure. If the pitch of solidarity and transparency meant anything, why the hush hush. Why the vast amounts of money spent to avoid public scrutiny and the overbearing amount of effort to dodge what should be all cards face up. McCain opened up all for everyone to view when he was questioned. What's the problem? The more they avoid it the more it provokes suspicion, and rightly so.
