That would be enough but unnecessary. In the Hudson landing it was all of about a minute or so from bird strike to touchdown in the water. If a plane is high enough to where it will take 15 minutes to descend to a landing altitude they will be generating enough wind speed to keep the turbines spinning. Which power the hydraulics. No need for backup.

yes turbulence can be quiet severe wow its so sad at least they didnt suffer too much pain i hope .. its terrible

Only if the plane actually fell apart mid air. Not likely unless they flew directly into the middle of a large maturing thunderstorm cell.
If that did happen at high altitude their eyes would pop out of their heads from the sudden decompression. Anyone still alive would instantly freeze to death with the temperatures being 20 to 40 below zero not taking into account a wind chill at a couple hundred miles per hour. That would put it at around -100 degrees or better. Not a pleasant way to go.
Option B, if they just lost control and the plane stayed together all the way down. They would have been tossed around until they hit the water and been crushed by the impact or burned alive from the ignited fuel. Not a good way to go either.

This was such a sad event. I can't stop thinking about those poor passengers and crew. And even worse, the fact that they have no clue where the plane went down. Think about the families with no closure on their loved ones. Awful.

This is so sad!! I came to know about it!! I have seen that the air crashes are occuring too frequently in these days !! But I am suprised too that why the government is not taking any serious action to check why the airplanes crashes in the air,despite so many technologies used!!
