I am filling out all the forms to get my fiance from the Philippines here in the states. my problem is that I was laid off from work back in February and am now collecting unemployment in the anout of $1,074 every two weeks. I also own two properties with an estimated net of $350,000 after subtracting the mortgages owed. Currently I am recieving about $1,600 for two of the three units in my rental property but that does not cover the mortgages.

I also have about $20,000 in the bank so I am not hurting for the money. Last two years I made over $80k as a project manager of a software company.
My question is thus: Will the INS have a problem with my financial position? I feel very financially secure and am not working now due to choice. I do not want to start working now, as I am eligible for extended benefits until December.

Please advise.

On the affidavit of support, it helps you determine whether or not you can support the person you are petitioning at 125% of the poverty line.

You should be 'good to go'. First, it appears that you are over the poverty line. Second, the financial papers are not needed until the actual interview phase at the Embassy in the Phillippines, which is months down the road if you are just filing now. You probably have plenty of time to be re-employed.
