I am a British citizen who has resided in the US with no status since 1991. I have no criminal records in this country. I am not married and do not qualify for adjustment of status through profession. I do not have any dependants or family in the US. I was lawfully admitted with a student visa (F-1) in the fall of 1991. I did not graduate from college. I have paid all State and Federal income taxes for the last 6 years.

United States is the only home I have. I have made a life for my self here and would like the opportunity to settle down here for good and proceed with my personal career goals. I am very frustrated with living in fear for the last 14 years.

I request your professional opinion regarding my situation and the possibility if any for adjusting my current status to that of a lawful abiding resident of the United States of America. Looking forward to your response.

the only way for you to adjust status is through marriage-based AOS

is there any one who can tell us that what kind of questions are asked in the citizenship interview and what records are checked?

14yearsof fear – our situation is almost eerily similar! Please follow the thread titled "Any Hope?"

In a nutshell, it does not look good. Marriage to a USC is about the only option. There has been much talk about immigration reform and I think some kind of legislation will be passed this year or next. It is such a controversial topic that it will not be blanket amnesty, but some kind of work program with many restrictions (which will also not immediately lead to a GC).

other then marriage to USC, if you guys have any US citizen or LPR( child, parents , borther sister etc0 and you can prove hardship to them then cencellation of removal is an option but you have to put yourself in procedding first, so be careful about that too( only file this if you are desprateand have fulfilled requirements)

Its a discussion, not a legal advise..
