  • August 31 - Trump DREAMs

    Comment: Trump DREAMs

President Trump's actions in Syria showed that he has an empathic heart for children suffering. After seeing the slaughter of children by the Syrian government using chemical weapons, President Trump launched an severe missile attack on the Syrian airbase which launched the weapons--acting against the wishes of Russia with whom he is normally not inclined to fight with. President Trump is a human being with his own strengths and weaknesses, just like every other human being.

President Trump has often expressed his feelings that Dreamers should be dealt with generosity and warmheartedness. Sins of parents are not visited upon their children. This is a well established principle of American law that distinguishes us from many other countries. Generous treatment for Dreamers is in the American tradition. While President Trump is an anti-immigrationist and has displayed racist tendencies which he has worn plainly on his Twitter sleeve, he has nevertheless often championed a generous treatment of Dreamers in spite of facing opposition from his base.

We encourage President Trump to go with his instincts, which in this case, are squarely in the American tradition, and push for the DREAM Act which provides a path to permanent residence for Dreamers--so that Dreamers become American in law since they are in fact Americans, in their own American hearts and in the hearts of all true Americans.
