    Comment: EB5 Amount - 500K To 1.3 Million - DHS Proposed Rulemaking

In today's issue of Immigration Daily, we carry an advanced copy of a proposed rulemaking from DHS entitled "EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program Modernization" which proposes to raise the EB-5 investment amounts for TEA investments from $500k to $1.3 million and for non-TEA investments from $1 million to $1.8 million. The rule also proposes to make changes to the definition of TEA. The proposed rule is scheduled to be published in Federal Register on January 13th.

    Info about Turkey:

    • Turkey has 80 million people, 18th largest country in the world. Turkey is NOT a poor country, its GDP is $751 billion, also 18th largest in the world (in other words, it has a large number of millionaires and deca-millionaires).
    • ILW has prior experience in Turkey, we were there twice in 2015. We work with Turkish law firms (these do NOT file any US immigration petitions, nor do they provide any US immigration advice, but they can and do assist with local Turkish law matters).
    • Due to recent events, our agents are reporting huge increase in interest in EB5 in Turkey. We expect Turkey 2016 numbers may be three times greater than 2015, making Turkey an important EB5 market for Regional Centers.
    Info about Dubai:
    • Dubai is a large EB-5 market and a way of accessing high net worth expats from Iran/Middle East, India and Pakistan.
    • ILW has done over a dozen EB-5 events in Dubai for over 3 years.
    • Many expats who have made considerable money in Dubai/Middle East are looking for immigration alternatives given the instability in the region.
