Help Wanted: Immigration Paralegal

The paralegal will primarily be involved with the preparation and submission of employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions, labor certification applications, immigrant visa petitions, permanent resident applications, and U.S. citizenship applications. He/she will assist immigration attorneys in assessing immigration options for corporate clients, obtaining U.S. work authorization for foreign nationals, and maintaining valid visa status of clients' foreign national populations. Other duties include: preparing labor certification documents; overseeing labor certification recruitment process; preparing letters in support of visa petitions; maintaining correspondence with clients; collecting evidence and visa documentation from clients; conducting case audits; maintaining contact with government agencies; researching visa application procedures and requirements; and maintaining client databases with respect to approval and validity dates of visa petitions. Qualifications: Applicants should be detail-oriented and highly analytical with exceptional writing and communication skills. Experience in temporary work visas (including but not limited to L-1A, L-1B, E-2, E-1, H-1B, O-1), PERM labor certifications, immigrant visas (employment-based and family based), consular representation, adjustment of status application and U.S. citizenship. Attorney will be expected to make appearances at the Immigration Courts located at 26 Federal Plaza and 201 Varick Street, as well as the Nassau & Suffolk County criminal courts. Candidate must have at least 3 years' experience with some of the following: removal defense, cancellation of removal, asylum, family-based immigration, provisional waivers, and/or assessment of immigration consequences of proposed criminal disposition. Must have strong writing skills and experience preparing motions and briefs for Immigration Court, as well as appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals. Experience in criminal defense, including post-conviction relief, is a plus. NYS Bar admission required. Ideal candidate must be a professional, responsible, dedicated, detail-oriented, and friendly attorney who can work independently, as well as part of a team. Our clients are primarily Spanish speaking - so fluency in Spanish is preferred.
