Comment: International Migrant Day
Today is the 12th International Migrants Day during which the United States recognizes an upwards of 214 million migrants worldwide. On this day, it is important to note the continuing mission to protect and assist those migrants who are most vulnerable, including asylum-seekers. Through multilateral institutions, our country is working on preserving basic human rights of these millions of migrants. On International Migrant Day, then, it is only apt to encourage international practices that are mindful of a constituency that makes up more than three percent of the world's population.
