The law firm of Amoachi & Johnson has issued a formal request to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Mexico calling for the criminal prosecution of President Barack Obama for allegedly committing the federal crime of deprivation of their clients' rights. Their clients are a mother and child, ages 1 and 23 years old respectively.

From the request: "The 5th amendment to the U.S. Constitution guaranteed Mateo and Katy adequate medical care, food, and shelter. Notwithstanding this, President Barack Obama decided in advance that Mateo and Katy would be deprived of these rights. Due to the severe physical and mental pain suffered by Katy and Mateo due to President Barack Obama’s intentional acts, he should be prosecuted for commission of the federal crime of Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law, 18 U.S.C. § 242."

Obviously, there is virtually no chance that any action will be taken, but the request serves to shine another bright light on the harsh treatment that immigrant mothers and children are forced to endure at the hands of the most anti-immigrant administration in recent history. It should be noted that immigration lawyer Bryan Johnson has previously testified before Congress together with unaccompanied children to provide first-hand accounts while stressing the importance of prioritizing the best interests of these children.
