The ACLU's Joanne Lin published an article yesterday addressing the fact that the vast majority of deportations occur without an opportunity to appear before an immigration judge citing the fact that "in 1995, 1,400 immigrants were subject to nonjudicial removals, representing 3 percent of total deportations. By FY 2012 that number had sharply increased to 313,000 nonjudicial removals – an all-time high."

She comments that the Obama administration has prioritized speed over fairness, which is simply "un-American," and that individualized due process must be restored to the system.

Bravo Ms. Lin!
