It has been reported that House Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte (R - VA) has "hinted" that the GOP may be open to provisional legalization that stops deportations and also affords an opportunity for newly documented immigrants to apply for a"Green Card" and ultimately citizenship through existing legal channels. What this means is that under this compromise if an individual becomes documented, and is married to a United States citizen they can immediately apply for their Green Card, and three years from receiving it apply for citizenship.

In sum, it is an immigration holding pattern that stops the destruction of families through deportation, and that allows people to work and travel while they wait in line for a Green Card just like everyone else.

Now that is an immigration compromise that makes sense!
