The federal government wasn't the only thing that shutdown on Monday night. So did the Iraqi special immigrant visa which allows people whose lives are threatened as a result of assisting the US military during our time in Iraq. It would be truly shameful if we abandoned these folks and it was starting to look that way. USCIS and DOS has been doing everything it can to make the program non-functional and Congress looked ready to finish the job. Fortunately, last night the House unanimously approved an extension of the program.
