Comment: Liar Trump
Donald Trump engages in lying on a large scale, unprecedented in American politics, despite politics being notorious for practices which are less than the truth. The Washington Post has found that a full 65% of Liar Trump's statements earned WP's worst rating "Four Pinocchios" (most of the remaining statements are a mere Three Pinocchios). The Washington Post presents all 47 of Liar Trump's most egregious lies in one place. Here are some highlights: contrary to Liar Trump:

  • There is no evidence immigrants commit more crimes than native-born Americans.
  • Obama administration does not want to accept 200,000 refugees from Syria.
  • "Thousands and thousands" of Muslims in New Jersey did not celebrate the collapse of the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks.
  • Mexican government is not sending criminals and rapists to the United States.
  • The wall Liar Trump wants to build on the 2,000-mile border with Mexico will cost much more than $8 billion he claimed it would cost.
  • Trump University's rating from Better Business Bureau was D- before it started winding down.
  • Trump did not build his business empire with just a $1 million loan from his father.
  • High tariffs will not bring manufacturing back to Michigan and other states.
  • Trump cannot eliminate the nation's $19 trillion in debt in just eight years, apparently through renegotiating trade deals.
  • "Scores" of "recent migrants" have not been charged with terrorism.
  • Crime is not "through the roof" because of undocumented immigration.
  • U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel does not have "inherent conflict of interest" in the Trump University fraud case because of his Mexican heritage and Trump's plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • In general, undocumented people in the United States are not eligible to collect Social Security benefits.
  • And the list goes on and on.
This unprecedented scale of lying cannot be without costs. Regardless of whether he wins or loses while lieing at will, his lies will catch up with him sooner or later, and those who support him will pay a heavy political price for them.
