Comment: Immigration Solution to Aging Problem
Pew Research Center has released a report Attitudes about Aging: A Global Perspective - In a Rapidly Graying World, Japanese Are Worried, Americans Aren't, which documents the aging population of the world and its impact on global economies.

By 2050, nearly a third of the Western Europeans and Japanese will be 65 or older, but that number for America will be much lower at around 20%.The US economy will be in better shape than most developed countries, because US aging less rapidly than others; and will have a younger workforce. As a result the US economy will be going strong as other major economies start creaking under the burden of their aging populations.

The report identifies immigration as the cause for this advantage that US will have over other developed economies. Please let us know your thoughts by writing to us at editor@ilw.com.
