EOIR Announces New General Counsel

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – The Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) today announced the appointment of Jean King to serve as the agency’s next general counsel, effective Sept. 6, 2015.

Ms. King has held a variety of positions at EOIR. In addition to serving as the acting general counsel for eight months earlier this year, she served as the deputy general counsel since December 2012. Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel, she served as a counsel to the director, acting director of operations for the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), temporary member of the BIA, and senior legal advisor for the BIA. Ms. King started her career with EOIR in 1996 as an attorney advisor with the BIA. Prior to joining EOIR, she spent one year as a judicial law clerk with the Superior Court of Connecticut. She received her bachelor of arts from Brown University and a juris doctorate from the College of William and Mary.
